Hi, I’m Kathy Niewald, owner of Kathy’s Teddy Bear Shoppe. My love for sewing started early in life. After being mentored in the art of the needle by my 8th grade home economics teacher, I decided to pursue my God given talent with all my heart.

Later on I discovered a love for teddy bears and began collecting them for fun. In 2004 I realized that I could combine my love of sewing with my love of bears. Kathy’s Teddy Bear Shoppe is the result.

I particularly like the fact that my creations are made by re-purposing old fur coats. I enjoy giving them a new life and purpose as family heirlooms that keep the memory of departed loves one alive for generations to come.

The process of turning a loved one’s fur coat or stole into a tribute to that person’s life is a moving and rewarding experience for me, each and every time. If you would like to honor your loved one’s memory in this way, I would be honored to help.
